A Bit of US Heritage Washed Away

I just heard from family that the only remaining Covered Twin Bridges in the US is half gone. The flood waters have washed away the western span of the bridges.

I found some pictures.. but will be taking my own on Monday when I get to eastern PA.

I hope the do decide to rebuild the lost span.

West Paden is the span on the far side of the first picture.

Just a Wee Bit of Water

Eastern Pennsylvania (where I grew up) had just a "little bit" of rain last few days..

The flood level at Bloomsburg:

And some pictures of the area:

Some key pictures..

(Orangeville - Helicopter for Water Rescue - This helicopter came to
assist in a water rescue and landed in the field at the Orangeville
Fire Hall.) Heh.. that's where I grew up :)

Hmm, no wonder mom couldn't go into town:

Dam that is a few miles north of Orangeville..

Gave out tuesday night, leading to most the flooding in the picture above.

Bloomsburg Fairgrounds are going to need a new "High Water" mark on the buildings.

I'll be in the area Monday next week .. I'll take some pictures of the remains.

Doing the “Got More Data” Dance

I have permission from ESA to bring some of their Real-Time data into World Wind. First up: ATSR World Fire Atlas; with more data to follow.
