A couple of small tidbits of World Wind related news tonight.

First up is the latest World Wind community / NASA meeting.  Daniel has a nice wrap-up of that covered on his blog.  But the main issue is that the WWC will have more of a "Project Leader" to help focus development.  For now, Daniel has stepped up to that plate to help focus WW.net Development.  For the rest of the meeting wrap-up, check Daniel's post.

Next up we have Splashpoint,  a GIS platform that is based on World Wind that is currently in beta testing now.

To make Splashpoint a serious application for professionals, it must have a solid backbone. So we added an enterprise geospatical database and search engine as the core for data repository and functional calculation and analysis. From this we are developing interesting and unique classes of applications.

Will be interesting to see what comes out of this project, look forward to reading more on it.

Also found out today that World wind is being used by the NASA National Search and Rescue Plan group.

"NASA will support Search and Rescue (SAR) objectives through  research and development or application of technology to search, rescue, survival, and recovery systems  and equipment, such as location tracking systems, transmitters, receivers, and antennas capable of locating aircraft,  ships, spacecraft, or individuals in  potential or actual distress."

I will see if I can find out some more information about this.
