World Wind Officially Supported by 3DConnexion
Written by Chad on March 23rd, 2007I had a note in my inbox this morning that 3DConnexion officially announced support for the SpaceNavigator in NASA World Wind now. I was wondering if they would put something out or not actually.
SAN JOSE, Calif. – Mar. 21, 2007 – 3Dconnexion, a Logitech company, today announced its line of 3D navigation devices now supports NASA World Wind 1.4. The World Wind community, ranging from engineers and developers to land surveyors and enthusiasts, can quickly and effortlessly fly from satellite altitude to almost any location on Earth, Mars, Venus, Jupiter or the Earth’s moon using one of 3Dconnexion’s 3D navigation devices – the SpaceNavigator™, SpaceTraveler™, SpacePilot™, or SpaceExplorer™.
As some had known, I have been working with the 3DConnexion developers to get a stable World Wind plug-in. I am not sure how they are getting the plug-in out. Probably on the CD that comes with the SpaceNavigator, more likely we will add the plug-in to the default World Wind 1.4 install so that it is already there (Would have to talk that over with all involved.).
Yes I know there is a weird quote from me in there. But they asked if they could use one since I had been helping them out in the debug and testing stages.
If anyone does have a SpaceNavigator and World Wind 1.4 and wants the plug-in, let me know. I can put up the latest version I have, which is most likely the version they will send out to people.

Yup 1.4.1 will probably have the plugin, I’d like to keep it external (so it can be easily updated), but loaded by default.
