Ok... I think I have read and seen enough of Google Gears... and every time I hear it I want to add "of War" to it.
I can't be the only one doing that...
Maybe I am foretelling the future?

Ok, some more details on my post before about "WWJava the Photo Viewer". The application is called blueMarine and can be found here.
The aim of blueMarine is to fully support the photographic workflow, even before the photo shoot (for instance, trip planning supported by maps) and beyond print or archival.
Screen shots of the current application can be found here. The developer's blog has some more information about his change of the application to take advantage of WWJava.
..it was pretty easy for me to embed it in blueMarine. I actually redesigned my Map module into a Geo module, that can display maps with JXMapViewer as well as 3D sceneries such as NASA's.
I think that Geertjan and Ken will keep on blogging on World WInd and as soon as I'll figure out how to render geotagged point you will see blueMarine pinning thumbnails on the Earth.

First off.. a lot more imagery in World Wind now... well, a lot if you use the Virtual Earth plug-in. Microsoft Virtual Earth released a huge update of imagery again the other day.

And about the new Google Maps "Streets View".. I can see now why it would be a good view to have judging by this screen shot:

Other than that... I don't see "Street View" as being that amazing just yet.
Ok, the BrinkX add-on has had a major overhaul this weekend. If you already have the add-on installed, the updates will show up the next time to use World Wind. If you have not yet installed it you can download it from my wiki page here.
Here is a quick rundown of the changes:
So far, this example wins the "best use of WWJava" award for now.
This example of WWJava has paths with photographs shown at given waypoints. Probably the best photo viewer I have seen done yet.
My youngest made me this map so that I can find their secret play area in the back of the yard, the map starts at the bottom and goes up and to the right to the location. A very good map for a 7 year old.
Better than some maps drawn by adults ![]()
